Ooof. As if the woes around “Men In Black 3” couldn’t get worse — with a ballooning $200 million budget, an unfinished script, writers who aren’t talking to producers and a massive production delay — the film is now losing actors.
In a chat with Vulture at the Roundabout Theatre Company where he was fêted last night, when asked about “Men In Black 3” Alec Baldwin said, “I’m not doing that. I’m out of it; the schedule didn’t work out.” Of course, by “schedule” he means the moving target production start for the second half of the film which has been pushed until March 28th.
It was probably just a matter of time before the film’s delays started affecting the calendars of the talent involved. Baldwin was set to play the boss of the MIB in 1969 in the “past” portions of the film, which are the batch to go in front of cameras next. There’s no word yet on who will replace him but it would be hilarious if it was Harrison Ford.
Sony is still saying the film will hit theaters on May 25, 2012. But if the film is delayed any more expect that date to change and Sony executives to start wishing they had a time machine so they can go back and stop this trainwreck from being greenlit.
