When we first heard about the thriller “Gone,” we thought it sounded a little low-rent, and with new cast members coming on board, that feeling hasn’t quite dissipated.
Variety reports that Emily Wickersham (“I Am Number Four“), Wes Bentley and Dexter’s annoying sister Jennifer Carpenter have all come aboard the Amanda Seyfried starrer. Set to be directed by the little-known Heitor Dhalia (”Adrift”) with a script by — warning! — Allison Burnett (”Untraceable,” “Fame”), the story revolves around “a woman named Jill who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She’s convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. But the police do not believe her and Jill knows time is running out. With no one to turn to, Jill sets off to find her sister and face her abductor once and for all.”
So yeah, you can see why we’re a little skeptical about the film. But hey, we’re more than ready for it to turn into a nifty, above-average thriller so we’ll wait to see how it plays. Filming begins next month.
