With Mark Ronson recently revealed as the man behind the score to Jason Winer‘s upcoming “Arthur” remake starring Russell Brand and Helen Mirren, it was only a matter of time before some other interesting musical choices joined as well, right? Speaking on the red carpet of the Indie Spirit awards, Greta Gerwig has revealed that crooner Cee Lo Green may already be on board to cover Christopher Cross‘ iconic theme song to the 1984 picture.
“I think Cee Lo might be doing something with [the theme song],” Gerwig told MTV. “I’m not kidding! I met him at a screening the other day.”
The singer would be an interesting choice for the cover and, should it pan out that way, a great teaming with Ronson. The DJ/producer has proven himself to be a bit of chameleon over the course of his three solo albums with his past works with such artists as Amy Winehouse, Adele, Lily Allen and Daniel Merriweather including an album full of covers which no doubt puts him in good stead for this. Either way, whoever ends up tackling the song will have high standards to meet after Cross’ original version took home Oscar and Golden Globe wins for Best Original Song that year.
