OK, so while Demi Lovato won’t make her post-rehab career resurgence in Marvel‘s mega-comic movie “The Avengers,” THR has revealed Marvel is going to be casting somebody in another female role that is apparently up for grabs.
According to sources speaking to the trade paper, Marvel is on the hunt but naturally, details on what the exact details of the role are being kept under wraps. However, THR surmises that the role might be that of Wasp and the guess is a pretty logical one. The Wasp (aka Janet van Dyne) is one of the founding members of The Avengers crew and has been a character long expected to join the film. Rumors have been running rampant for months with various people being suggested as contenders for the role including, most recently and erroneously, Eva Longoria. If they go in that direction, we presume that also means Ant-Man, another founding member, will factor in as well, though that role as well is yet to be cast.
Anyway, with filming scheduled to begin in the spring, we figure these last-minute casting decisions should be made soon, but the cast is already pretty stacked/overcrowded with Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) all set to appear. Joss Whedon is directing the film and we hope he can keep all the balls in the air for this one.
“The Avengers” opens on May 4, 2012.
