First Look: Megan Fox & Adam Scott Shooting Jennifer Westfeldt’s ‘Friends With Kids’

Jennifer Westfeldt not only has the ability to boast that she’s the envy of women worldwide partner of “Mad Man” star Jon Hamm but she’s also added the title of Director to her resumé as she helms the currently in-production romantic drama, “Friends With Kids.” The film will star the real-life couple along with Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott and, in her first post-‘Transformers‘-controversy role, Megan Fox. Some new set photos have arrived unveiling our first look at the New York production.

The script was also written by Westfeldt herself, her third after “Kissing Jessica Stein” and “Ira & Abby,” and centers on “a pair of thirty-something best friends who observe the toll that having kids has taken on the couples they know and resolve to bypass that stress by having a child and then dating other people” with Scott and Westfeldt playing the lead couple, Hamm and Wiig as another couple, and Fox as a girl Scott begins to date. Of course, it’s the acting talent involved that piques our interest in the project.

No word yet on any kind of supporting cast or whether any of the thespians who originally read in an early script preview — Rebecca Creskoff, Rosemarie Dewitt and Noah Emmerich — also moved onto the feature production. We think not as they presumably read for the lead roles at the time, which have now been filled by the cast already in place. At one stage, Westfeldt was also looking at casting Anne Hathaway, presumably for the role filled by Fox.

Apparently, the film is already set for an April theatrical release which seems like an extremely fast turnaround, especially for a directorial debut, though it may be possible with both Mike Nichols and Jake Kasdan exec producing and mentoring Westfeldt. [Facebook via CS]
