Watch: New Trailer For ‘Battle: Los Angeles’ Features Less Footage, More Voiceover

Following the effectively moody first trailer for “Battle: Los Angeles” — oops, sorry, “World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles” (we guess the title change is there to make sure that folks know shit is going to blow up real good) — the film‘s marketers have opted to show less footage and deliver more voiceover in the decidedly less thrilling second spot for the film.

The film stars Aaron Eckhart as the leader of a Marine platoon trying to make it across a battle-ravaged LA in the midst of a global alien invasion. The cast also includes Michelle Rodriguez, Bridget Moynahan, Michael Pena, Lucas Till (”X-Men: First Class”), Ramon Rodriguez (”Transformers 2”) and rapper Ne-Yo, and it’s helmed by Jonathan Liebesman (”The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning”) so, you know, take that for what it’s worth. If the something about this recalls “Skyline,” that’s because the directors of that film, Colin and Greg Strause, did the special effects here and similarities were so striking that lawsuits were threatened. But with “Skyline” more or less tanking, Columbia seems to be a bit a less worried about the competition.

As for use, the eye candy looks like nice enough in the trailers so far, but whether or not it can sustain a film remains to be seen. The movie opens on ow, on March 11, 2011 and we really hope the ‘World Invasion’ isn’t going to be used as excuse to make sequels in other cities but we fear it will be. Synopsis and trailer after the jump (or in HD at Apple).

For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world – Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world’s great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It’s up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they’ve ever encountered before.
