With “True Grit” being the only film left to screen for critics, you might think the Oscar race is pretty much over. Guess again. Halle Berry is making a late stage gamble for some awards season glory with the drama “Frankie & Alice” and now we have a poster for the film. As you can tell, Berry has her eyes on the prize.
Starring Berry, Stellan Skarsgaard, Chandra Wilson and Phylicia Rashad, the 1970s-set drama centers on a young woman with a personality disorder (Berry) who struggles to contain her racist alter-ego. The film was directed by Geoffrey Sax (”White Noise”) and features five credited screenwriters with the biggest previously credited film among them being “Save The Last Dance” so take that Oscar chance with a grain of salt.
The film will get a massive awards campaign push as screenings for critics have begun, and 10000 discs are being pressed to send to Hollywood insiders and influencers. As for everyone else, the film will hit theaters NY/LA on December 17th, and will go wide February 4, 2011.
