‘Glee’ Star Says She Hasn’t Been Offered Part, But She’d Take One If She Was
Waka waka waka. Looks like Sharon Waxman’s rolodex isn’t so spot on and/or who are we to believe these days? Last week, Production Weekly twittered out an entire slew of casting rumors from the new Jason Segel lead ‘Muppet‘ movie that James Bobin (”Flight Of The Conchords”) is directing. Evidently, Paul Rudd, Lady Gaga, and an army of other celebrity actors were set to make small appearances or cameos in the film — Rudd was said to be voicing the new Muppet Walter (seen above next to Lynch).
The Wrap quickly jumped on Production Weekly’s tweet and reported — via their apparently reliable sources — that Danny Trejo and Jane Lynch‘s appearances had been confirmed. However Lynch told The Hollywood Reporter this weekend that those claims are patently false.
“I’m not doing the Muppets movie,” Lynch said noting that she hadn’t even been approached by the filmmakers. “They haven’t asked me. I would do it if they asked me.”
File under: close but no cigar. So who to believe? After Twittering out the “news,” Production Weekly then retweeted a comment from a Wrap cub reporter that said Paul Rudd would not be voicing the Walter character, seemingly endorsing this new report (that curiously never made it into the original Wrap report). And now both Production Weekly’s tweets with the ‘Muppets’ casting info — names included Jack Black, Ed Helms, John Krasinski — have been deleted from their feed. Further adding to the confusion, Production Weekly also retweeted THR’s report about Lynch not being part of “The Muppets” movie which contradicts their original tweet that said the “Glee” star was in the movie. Oy vey.
Incidentally, even Google cache has stricken Production Weekly’s tweets from the record — though they’re all over the Internet, including our site. Does this mean Disney is trying to put a clampdown on leaks of stars making cameos in the film or is PW just backtracking on their reports now that others are reporting concrete news to the contrary?
