Finally, you can go to the movie theater and get your snacks all without ever talking to a human being. Fandango has launched a new feature that will let you pre-order concessions while you’re also buying movie tickets in advance.
Users will be able to see a full menu of concession items and place your snack order in advance, either when you’re buying the tickets for your movie itself or later on closer to showtime. Because that Milk Duds craving can hit at anytime.
For now, the feature is only available at AMC Theatres locations, but it will roll out with other exhibitors that support Fandango later.
The Fandango app and website will also allow you to invite your guests to pick out their concession order. They can pay for their own damn popcorn via its multiple-transactions feature. Users of the pre-order concessions option can skip the line at the theater and go to a designated pick-up area to retrieve their items.
It also works for AMC Dine-in locations — there, the items will be brought right to your seats. And AMC Stubs members can now earn or redeem concession perks through the Fandango app rather than just through AMC’s app.
Fandango as part of its 2024 Moviegoing Trends and Insights Study says that one in four general movie ticket buyers have dabbled with pre-ordering concessions in the past. So anything that makes it easier for more people to reach deeper into their pockets is something exhibitors could really use right now.
“We are excited to collaborate with AMC Theatres to bring these exciting new concessions offering to our users,” said Jerramy Hainline, EVP of Fandango. “At Fandango, our goal is to super-serve consumers with all their moviegoing needs, and launching the ability to pre-order concessions on our platform is another important step to bring even more convenience and joy to moviegoers.”
“This is a great advancement for Fandango users and AMC patrons. Moviegoers routinely take advantage of the opportunity to preorder their favorite AMC food and drink selections through the AMC mobile app and website. We are thrilled that our guests now have this option through the Fandango platform,” said Ellen Copaken, SVP, Marketing, AMC Theatres.
Now if only Fandango can help movie theaters figure out making movie merch inside the theaters a thing.
