Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are set to star in a film adaptation of “The Housemaid,” the novel by Freida McFadden, for director Paul Feig and studio Lionsgate.
Sweeney’s deal has closed and Seyfried is in final negotiations for the psychological thriller film based on the bestselling 2022 novel.
In the film, Sweeney will play Millie, a struggling young woman who is relieved to get a fresh start as a housemaid to Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew, an upscale, wealthy couple, only to learn that the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.
Rebecca Sonnenshine wrote the screenplay.
Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman will produce, while Carly Kleinbart Elter will oversee the project for Hidden Pictures. Feigco’s Feig and Laura Fischer are also producing, and Sweeney and Seyfried will executive produce alongside Alex Young and McFadden.

Chelsea Kujawa and Erin Jones-Wesley are overseeing for Lionsgate. Robert Melnik negotiated the deals for the studio.
