The Marvel Cinematic Universe faces a crossroads after the disappointing performance of “The Marvels,” but that hasn’t stopped Hollywood A-listers from dreaming about joining the massive superhero franchise.

In a new interview with Screen Rant, Jon Hamm expressed his desire to take on a Marvel role in the future. While he stipulated that nothing is formally in the works, the “Fargo” star said that his lifelong love of comic books would make it an appealing opportunity.

“Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade. I would love to,” Hamm said when asked about a potential Marvel gig. “I’ve been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. I think there are tons of stories that I’m familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told.”

Hamm continued, “Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not, I know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks that are ready to be a part of those stories. There are certainly a lot of stories in the ‘X-Men’ world to be told. ‘Fantastic’ Four as well, Doctor Doom. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?”

The MCU is not the first major franchise that Hamm has publicly lobbied to join. In a 2022 interview with IndieWire, Hamm compared his role in “Confess, Fletch” to a James Bond movie and joked that he’d love to play the iconic British secret agent.

“There’s very much some shared DNA there, for sure. It’s a series of stories. He’s sort of placed in different environments and conundrums and finds himself constantly on the wrong side of the law sometimes and has to use his wits and his wilds to get out. He doesn’t have the budget that maybe James Bond has for gadgets, but he does have his wits and his incredible ability to read a room,” Hamm said. “And while we’re at it, sure. I’d love to play James Bond. Thank you for asking.”
