Mayhem, Chaos & Insanity: It’s The Trailer For Roman Polanski’s ‘Carnage’

What happens when you put Jodie Foster, John C. Reilly, Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz on a film set with Roman Polanski? You get “Carnage,” an adaptation of Yasmina Reza‘s celebrated play and judging from this new trailer, it’s going to be a riot.

The premise is quite simple: two sets of parents come together to discuss what happens when the boy of one strikes the son of the other in the head with a stick. But of course, that’s just the starting point of what becomes a vicious (and very funny) assault on upper middle-class hypocrisy. Early word from both Venice and NYFF has been somewhat mixed, but most agree, as evidenced here, Christoph Waltz looks to be in great form and we’d wager he’ll be a talking point for awards season contention. And while our man in Venice called the film, “fun while it lasts, but insubstantial & anonymous” the opportunity to see this cast verbally spar with each other, shouldn’t be something to pass up.

“Carnage” hits theaters on December 16th. Check out the trailer below.
