Get ready to feast your eyeballs on some snazzy new marketing materials from what will be two of the biggest films this fall.
First up is “Ides Of March” the latest directorial effort from George Clooney who also stars. The film follows the exploits of a twenty-something presidential campaign spinmeister/wunderkind named Stephen Myers (Gosling) and the dirty pool he plays to get his candidate (played by Clooney) the nomination against a rival senator. The solid supporting cast also includes Paul Giamatti as the campaign manager of the rival senator played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei as a New York Times reporter and Evan Rachel Wood as an intern for Myers’ campaign who has her eyes on Stephen. The film opens the Venice Film Festival which kicks off tomorrow, so you’ll know our thoughts on it soon. But you won’t have to wait too long to judge for yourselves as it will hit theaters on October 7th. Check out the timely new poster below.
Meanwhile, the buzz around Nicolas Winding Refn‘s “Drive” continues to build and what can we tell you that you don’t already know? The film stars Gosling as a stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway-driver-for-hire, who gets caught up in some dirty business. An ace supporting cast is in place with Carey Mulligan, Albert Brooks, Oscar Isaac, Ron Perlman and Christina Hendricks lending their talents and the soundtrack is one of the best of the year. These new banner ads for the film continue the classy retro vibe of the campaign thus far but if FilmDistrict want to take it over the top, they should think about turning these into bumper stickers ASAP. “Drive” opens on September 16th.
