Well, Ghost Rider is back and “Crank” directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor have answered the age old question: what happens when Johnny Blaze has to take a piss when he’s on fire?
Aside from that, the rest of the trailer for “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” is somewhat tame for the film that was promised at Comic-Con last month to be “fucking your shit up in 3D February 2012.” For all the talk of Neveldine/Taylor strapping on roller blades and flying through the air to film this, it’s not the “Crank: The Superhero Movie” we were expecting. It plays like every other B-movie comic flick, with flourishes of inventiveness, but with the same, seemingly tedious story. This time around, Nicolas Cage, Ciaran Hinds, Idris Elba, Johnny Whitworth and Christopher Lambert are on board in the sequel that catches up with Johnny Blaze, aka Ghost Rider (Cage), hiding out in remote Eastern Europe, struggling to repress his curse. However, he is recruited by a sect to take on the devil (Hinds), who wants to take over his mortal son’s body on the boy’s birthday.
So yeah, it’s loud, it’s dumb, it’s kind of stupidly funny — it’s basically what you’d expect from the guys who made “Gamer.” ‘Ghost Rider’ opens on February 17, 2012 in 3D, of course. Trailer below or in HD at Apple.
