Liev Schreiber, James Marsden & Liv Tyler Join Indie ‘Robot And Frank’

Frank Langella, Jeremy Strong & Susan Sarandon Also On Board

If a cast that includes Liev Schreiber, Liv Tyler, Frank Langella, James Marsden and Susan Sarandon doesn’t get you excited for the sci-fi influenced indie “Robot and Frank,” perhaps it’s time to check your own wiring. While all four names have had their share of misfires lately, namely Schreiber in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and Langella and Sarandon in “Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps,” all are in high demand and frankly deliver solid performances when they are working with the right talent. Actor Jeremy Strong is an interesting newcomer who has the upcoming comedy “See Girl Run” alongside Adam Scott and Robin Tunney in the pipeline, as well as recently being cast as president Abraham Lincoln’s aide in the much anticipated Steven Spielberg-directed biopic “Lincoln.”

Park Pictures has announced the family comedy will be set in the future and centers on Frank (Langella), an aging curmudgeon who loves books. Other than his regular trips to the library where he visits his friend, played by Sarandon, and regular visits from his son, Frank leads a lonely life until his grown children (Marsden, Tyler) get him a robot companion (voiced by Schreiber). The two strike up an unlikely friendship. It certainly sounds unique and we’re curious to see where this one goes.

The film will be directed by Jake Schreier making his feature film debut and will start shooting this month in New York City. —Benjamin Wright
