‘Friends With Benefits’ Soundtrack Features Rogue Wave, Janelle Monae, Kris Kross & More

It’s one thing for “No Strings Attached” and “Friends With Benefits” to feature carbon copy concepts, executed nearly exactly the same way, but it’s downright eerie when those similarities cross over to the soundtrack as well.

The tracklist for the fuckbuddy comedy “Friends With Benefits” has been revealed and you’d be forgiven if you thought the same music supervisor worked on both movies. Where ‘Attached’ had Color Me Badd, ‘Benefits’ has Kriss Kross. For an acoustic cover, ‘Attached’ had Hugo‘s “99 Problems” and ‘Friends’ has Grant Lee Phillips doing “Boys Don’t Cry.” Need some indie rock? Rogue Wave subs in for Temper Trap here. But in the end, the ‘Friends’ soundtrack wins if only because it is a decidedly more funky affair with Janelle Monae, Dyke & The Blazers and G. Love and Special Sauce getting things moving. But it also loses major points for including Semisonic‘s awful “Closing Time.”

Anyway, the soundtrack will hit digitally and physically on July 19th with the movie following a few days later on July 22nd. Check out the full tracklist below.
