Watch: International Trailer For ‘The Help’ Starring Emma Stone

This writer is making a prediction now: “The Help” is going to be the sleeper surprise of the summer.

Starring Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jessica Chastain, Allison Janney, Sissy Spacek, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, David Oyelowo and Mike Vogel, the Southern integration drama is based on a best-selling novel by Katheryn Stockett and follows a recent college graduate in the 1960s (Stone) who decides to write a book highlighting the plight of African-American domestic help in Mississippi. The book was a massive success earning rave reviews and big following, and as a whole, the film has a dead aim on the “Julia and Julia“/”Eat Pray Love” type audience that is generally underserved during the summer months. And not that it has any bearing on anything, but Mary J. Blige has written an exclusive song — “The Living Proof” — for the soundtrack. As for the film, while we worry about Stone’s wandering accent, it looks harmless enough. Maybe not in our wheelhouse exactly, but hopefully a decent little drama with some heft (there is great cast on this one).

Judge for yourself by checking out the latest international trailer below. “The Help” opens on August 12th. [Empire]
