Much speculation has surrounded Todd Phillip‘s highly anticipated sequel to “The Hangover” but other than some casting news, a few set photos and the recent revelation that Bill Clinton isn’t making a cameo in the film, the project has managed to remain relatively secretive. Speaking with MTV at the Sundance Film Festival, though, actor Paul Giamatti — one of few additions to the sequel — has provided a little color to the bare details that are already out there.
“I play Mel Gibson,” Giamatti joked, before retracting and adding “no, I think Liam Neeson plays that. I just did it with the three guys, who were great. They kind of swore me to secrecy. I play a bad guy in it.” We had previously touted the actor for the role of the tattoo artist, though whether that’s the case is anyone’s guess at this point. The work of the tattoo artist, whoever that may be, was already evident in one of the spoiler-ish set photos. As for Giamatti, it seems he’s embracing his darker side as he also recently confirmed he’ll be stalking Robert Pattinson in David Cronenberg‘s “Cosmopolis.”
Also joining the leading quartet of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha will be Jamie Chung, who plays Stu’s new fiancee, Ken Jeong who’ll reprise his role of gangster Mr. Chow and boxer Mike Tyson who’ll return as himself. The film’s release on May 26th will surely be one of the biggest weekends this year.
