There are a whole lot of movies coming this summer based on comic books, but the one we’re looking forward to most doesn’t come from either the Marvel or DC banners. Jon Favreau‘s “Cowboys & Aliens,” based on the graphic novel of the same title, is an ambitious melding of two genres that looks to be delivering the goods on both counts. The first trailer impressed and this afternoon, the Super Bowl spot from the film dropped and within its thirty second runtime, it has renewed our interest in the film all over again.
“Cowboys & Aliens” follows a group of Apache Indians and Western settlers in Arizona who must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city. The film stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford (starring in something worthwhile for the first time in years), Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano, Olivia Wilde, Noah Ringer, Walton Goggins, Keith Carradine, Ana de la Reguera and more. Oh yeah, and some aliens. This brief spot features lots of new footage and our first glimpse at the attacking aliens and it’s some exciting stuff.
“Cowboys & Aliens” rides into theaters on July 29th. Check out the spot below.
