Watch/Listen: The National For ‘Win Win’; Zooey Deschanel For ‘Winnie’ & Mark Ronson For ‘Arthur’

A few bits of music/movie news to bring you into the weekend. First off, as we reported last year, The National have recorded a brand new song for the solid Tom McCarthy directed dramedy “Win Win” starring Paul Giamatti and Amy Ryan. The film goes into wider release this weekend and Prefix have uncovered the video for the tune, “Think You Can Wait.” It’s a mashup of clips, behind-the-scenes footage and band rockin’ out so it gets the job done. Totally anecdotal, but “Win Win” got hearty applause from the audience we saw it with, so might be worth your $10 this weekend.

Next, a video has hit YouTube courtesy of Walt Disney giving us a sneak peek at Zooey Deschanel‘s contributions to the upcoming “Winnie The Pooh.” The latest adventure from everyone’s favorite sad sack bear will feature three songs from Deschanel — and wait, is that M. Ward we saw playing guitar in the background? But yeah, it essentially sounds like her band She & Him which is definitely not a bad thing.

Finally, Vulture got the drop on “A Little Bit Better” one of four Mark Ronson produced tunes on the upcoming “Arthur” soundtrack (it will also feature two songs from Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard). It’s a hearty slice of new school/old school soul featuring Daniel Merriweather who will sing three of those four Ronson tunes. It’s not particularly good or anything, but firmly within Ronson’s wheelhouse so fans should be happy.
