Watch: Chilling, Atmospheric U.K. Trailer For ‘Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark’

Finally, emerging out of the Miramax fiasco and heading to cinemas thanks to FilmDistrict, the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror flick “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” is on the way and you know what? It actually looks like it’s going to pack some good scares in a film that doesn’t have anyone being tortured or was made for $1 million dollars and shot with a handheld camera.

Empire has dropped a new U.K. trailer for the film which shows a lot more than the teaser that has been floating around for a while now. Directed by Troy Nixey and starring Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes and Bailee Madison, the film—a remake of 1973 TV movie—centers on a family who move into a derelict house, only to experience the unveiling of some terrifying creatures. We really dig the overall moodiness and atmosphere we see here and aside from the closing jump scare, this appears to be one that will slowly raise your goosebumps before frightening the bejesus out of you. All three actors look to be in top form too; we’ve been a fan of Madison since her turn in “Brothers” and the young thesp looks strong again here, and Pearce as usual looks great.

“Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” opens on August 12th. Check out the trailer below.
